Bangladesh’s youth are no longer content with merely dreaming they are turning those dreams into reality on the global stage. One luminous example of talent, integrity, humanitarianism, and social responsibility is Aurka Roy, a young apprentice lawyer and human rights Lawyer , who has recently earned two consecutive international honors, demonstrating the vast potential of the nation’s new generation to the world.
On 9 October 2025, at the Human Harmony Conference Nepal and International Peace Award 2025 in Maldives, Aurka Roy represented Bangladesh among nominees from 33 countries, receiving recognition in the Individual Category. Through this honor, he showcased the country’s dignity and commitment to justice on the international stage. The organizers’ official statement noted:
“Mr. Aurka Roy has been honored for his invaluable contribution in promoting human harmony, justice, and peace through his legal writings and social awareness works.”
This recognition is not just a personal achievement it reflects the global trust in Bangladesh’s youth and their leadership potential.
A Young Advocate on the Frontlines of Justice and Humanity
Although an apprentice lawyer by profession,Aurka Roy’s work extends far beyond courtroom walls. He believes:
“Law is not a source of fear; it is a shield for human dignity.”
Guided by this philosophy, he has dedicated himself to making legal knowledge accessible to ordinary people. His articles on legal issues published in the online edition of Independent24.tv have already garnered attention, covering topics from land law and women and child protection to cybercrime and human rights offering practical guidance to the public.
Second International Honor: Recognition on Human Rights Day
Just weeks after receiving the International Peace Award in Maldives, Aurka Roy was nominated for the International Human Rights Peace Award 2025. The award was conferred by the Asia Human Rights Foundation and the International Immigrant Human Rights Foundation in recognition of his long-standing work in human rights advocacy, support for marginalized communities, and efforts to uphold justice.
The award was presented on 13 December 2025, at a ceremony marking International Human Rights Day at the World Literature Centre, Dhaka. Chief Guest of the event was Justice Sikdar Maqbool Haque of the Bangladesh Supreme Court. Key speakers and special guests included Professor Mohammad Ahsan Ullah (IUB), Professor Dr. M.A. Sattar (Asia Human Rights Foundation), Erfanul Haque Nahid (BFUJ), Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo (DRU), Kajal Hazra (Bangladesh Photojournalist Association), Md. Moshiur Rahman Sumon, and Eliza Jaman (International Expat Human Rights Foundation).
Reflecting on the honor, Aurka. Roy said:
“This recognition does not belong to me alone—it belongs to those who fight every day in hope of justice. Standing beside people in need is my greatest achievement.”

Aurka Roy attributes much of his success to his mother, Kalpana Banik, former Head Teacher of Kazi Khil Government Primary School, Sandwip. From an early age, she instilled in him the values of compassion, integrity, and courage. As Aurka puts it:
“My mother taught me that standing beside people matters more than holding power.”
Family, colleagues, and community members unanimously agree that her hard work, sacrifice, and moral guidance played a decisive role in shaping Aurka Roy’s journey.
